'A New Economic Model' booklet has been developed by the Nevin Economic Research Institute in conjunction with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. It sketches out what a framework for inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic progress on the Island of Ireland in the 21st century might potentially look like. Specifically, we articulate an economic model based on four interconnected ‘pillars’ or goals defined as:
- (a) The Productive Economy;
- (b) More and Better Jobs;
- (c) Economic and Social Security;
- (d) Economic Resilience.
This booklet is based on the NERI Working Paper Series No. 76, 'New Economic Model: - A Framework for Economic Progress in the 21st Century' written by Tom McDonnell and Paul Mac Flynn, NERI Co-directors, Seán O'Riain (Maynooth University) and Michael Taft (SIPTU).
