This Labour Market Observer is written by NERI Co-director, Paul Mac Flynn. The experience of the labour markets in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland over the past 10 years has been turbulent. Beginning with the lingering effects of the Great Financial Crash and then faced with the economic shocks of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. Having a comparable set of statistics, North and South, allows us to see how these shocks have impacted both labour markets from their initial positions.
