Launch of QEO Summer, 2018
1 August 2018
This year’s Summer edition of the NERI Quarterly Economic Observer marks the 26th edition. The purpose of the Quarterly Economic Observer (QEO) is to provide regular, accessibly and timely commentary on the Irish Economy, North and South.
The main policy focus of this edition is Budgetary policy. The NERI will look at potential areas for reform in Budget 2019 and beyond. In particular, we will examine the extent to which Government can ‘rewire’ its mix and amount of public spending, as well as its mix and amount of government revenue raising, in ways that would boost the long-run productive capacity of the Irish economy.
The NERI will also present its updated projections for the Irish economy and will discuss the major risks and uncertainties facing the economy.
The launch will include a short presentation of the report’s main findings followed by questions from the floor.
Copies of the QEO will be available.
